The Catholic Church in Rwanda getting ready for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress

The Catholic Church in Rwanda locally celebrates the Eucharistic Congress to prepare the faithful for the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Budapest, Hungary, September 5-12, 2021.

According to the related program established by His Excellency Vincent Harolimana, Bishop of the diocese of Ruhengeri and Delegate of the Episcopal Conference of Rwanda (CEPR) to the International Eucharistic Congresses, the celebration of the local Eucharistic Congress began in the parishes from May 27 to 30, 2021.

The same program indicates that, from June 3 to 6, the local Eucharistic Congress will be celebrated at the diocesan level where it is planned that on the eve of the solemnity of the Blessed Sacrament, i.e. June 5, 2021, Rwandan Catholics will join the Universal Church in a prayer of adoration from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time.

At the national level, the local Eucharistic Congress will be celebrated in Kigali from July 15 to 18, 2021.

The Catholic Bishops of Rwanda stressed the importance of organizing local preparations for this 52nd International Eucharistic Congress in the meeting held in Kigali from May 4 to 7, 2021. And they wished that its celebration at the diocesan level would coincide with the celebration of the Holy Sacrament.

The International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Budapest, Hungary, from September 5 to 12, 2021, has as its theme: “All my sources are in you” (Ps 87, 7)”. This congress, which was to take place last year, had to be postponed this year due to the Covid-19 epidemic. Therefore, the Catholic Bishops of Rwanda, at their last meeting, called on Christians to pray more for this epidemic to end.

The Local Eucharistic Congress in Rwanda is celebrated under the theme: “The Eucharist: Source of life, forgiveness and reconciliation”.
